Back from the brink

Back from the brink

Boy did I learn about poor communications this month. My mom went into the hospital for routine surgery, and 5 weeks later, after complications, another surgery, and lots of proof why I NEVER want to be a gastroenterologist, she is out. Needless to say I had no time for luxuries like blogging. But I did learn how badly hospitals communicate and why they could benefit from some public relations training. I realize that our healthcare system is messed up. But so are alot of other industries, they’re just better at covering it up. No, I’m not going to go on a rant here about healthcare. But here’s a tip we can learn on what NOT to do. The only form they have at the hospital for patients to rate their stay is a complaint form. No surveys, nothing.

So I think we all need to ask ourselves – when was the last time I asked my customers how I’m doing?
