30 May Okay, sometimes the answer isn’t fun
Well, since I had been so pre-occupied with my mom’s illness last month I decided I had better go ask my clients how I was doing. Unfortunately I didn’t get all positives. But sometimes that’s why we don’t want to ask, right? The deal with PR is that you can work your butt off and get nothing for six months on a pitch that you thought was the cat’s meow. And then on something else, you can spend a few hours and have a windfall. It’s really easy to second guess ourselves as to whether or not we know what we’re doing in the first example. But the problem is that the media is a fickle beast. And you can never completely tell what way the wind is blowing. We’re all just doing the best we can in an unpredictable and very turbulent media environment.
