Using celebrities to brand

Most of us don’t have the tens of thousands of dollars needed to acquire a celebrity to help boost our brand. I was fortunate enough to work with a small ski shop years ago that brought in Bode Miller and a few other U.S. ski team racers to sign autographs at their opening. Alot of retail folks thought this guy was nuts to spend his entire annual advertising dollars on one event. But you know what? His gamble paid off and his business continued to thrive with that first great push.

I’m not saying you should bring in A-list athletes or blow your budget on one appearance. But you can use personalities to help build your brand. This is the time to really think outside the box. We all know those local folks with the super-charged personalities and a bit of fame in our local markets. They usually have their own causes to promote. Perhaps you can partner with one of them?
